Questions for Fellowship Groups from 12th May 2013

Jesus prays for this disciples - John 17.20-end

  • What does this passage tell us about the relationship between Jesus and His Father – and about the relationship he wants between his followers and the Father?

  • Jesus prays in this chapter that his followers will be united. What are the barriers to Christians being united? Is it a problem that we have lots of different types of churches – and how does it affect Jesus’ prayer “that the world may know” that he is sent from the Father?

  • One approach to thinking about God is that the three persons of the Trinity are united but also different. In our own church life at St Mark’s, how do we deal with the idea of being united but also different? What might be the very practical problems with living with that – and the advantages of it as well?
